Student Mobility for Training

The Erasmus+ Programme allows higher education students to undertake a curricular or extracurricular training in a foreign company or university.

In this context, ULisboa send students for training through an institutional application to the Erasmus + Programme and also trough Consórcio Erasmus Al Sud – Connecting Regions, Creating Worlds, a project in which it participates together with four other Portuguese higher education institutions, multiplying the opportunities for their students.

These mobilities are between higher education institutions that have interinstitutional agreements, or are carried out in companies.

The training period has a minimum of 2 months (60 days) and maximum of 12 months.

The Students can apply for the Erasmus + Programme to undertake an Erasmus curriculum or extracurricular placement in a company or other organization. For this purpose, they should contact the institutions directly or the Erasmus Offices of Higher Education Institutions in the participating countries, requesting support in the search for training. This king of training does not result in any sort of cost for the hosting companies, some of the host institutions provide financial support to students.

Students of any cycle of study (Bachelor, Master, Doctorate) can be candidates for the ERASMUS Mobility for Training or recently graduated students in accordance with the following requirements:

| Students regularly enrolled in a degree course, regardless of their nationality;
| If you have already completed mobility under the Erasmus Program during your current study cycle, please note that the total duration of the mobility (the ones that you have completed and what you intend to do) can not exceed 12 months per cycle, regardless of the number of participation, or type of action (studies / stage / combined periods). The Integrated Master Degree courses include two cycles of study, which allows the student to be granted with funding for up to 12 months mobility period per cycle (1st and 2nd cycle).

Additionally, each School may define its own eligibility and criteria, according to the specificity of each course.

Students interested in applying for a training program should contact the Schools International Offices/Erasmus.

| The student must submit the application at School Erasmus/ International Office;
| Search for companies/institutions. We suggest the student to ask for a training period under Erasmus+ Programm (for example: duration and CV updated). Consult the list of eligible institutions (PDF);
| Once you get the confirmation, ask for the institution/company/institution an acceptation letter;
| In case of being pre-selected, define your “Training Agreement” and submit to the approval of Erasmus Scientific Coordinator course;
| Complete and deliver all the required documentation at the School’s Erasmus/ International Office to initiate the process which results in your Grant Agreement being issued;
| You should apply for your Cartão Europeu de Seguro de Doença (European Health Insurance Card) in Social Security or ADSE or other health subsystems;
| You should search for accommodation and flights;
| You should sign the ERASMUS grant agreement, the final document that formalizes your ERASMUS Statute, and if it is the case, will allow you to receive your grant. Usually this document is normally issued only after mobility begins; so students must leave a proxy statement, appointing a representative, preferably in Lisbon, who can come to ULisboa to sign it.

The Erasmus Mobility Grants should cover the difference of the cost of living between the home and host countries.

The value of Grant is set for each academic year.

The European Commission has defined 3 groups of countries (1 - high cost of living, 2 - average cost of living and 3 - reduced cost of living). Grants will be awarded according to the value of the country of destination, multiplied by the number of months of mobility.

It is not possible to guarantee grants for all students. The Erasmus mobility can take place without the allocation of funding, i.e. the “zero grant", with the benefits from all the conditions and rights to participate in the Program to the student.

The grants will be awarded according to the value of the country of destination and for a defined number of mobility days, which may correspond to the total mobility period or can be combined with an additional number of days to the "zero grant" (without funding).

Practical matters, such as travel and accommodation are total responsibility of the student.

Grant Payment

| All students who receive (or may receive) a grant need a Tax Number and a Portuguese Banking account.
| Before the begining of the mobility, the Schools define values and communicate the select students.
| ULisboa celebrates Erasmus contracts with each student individually. Payment of the grant will be made within 30 days of signing the contract.

The Grant Amount Erasmus Student Mobility is awarded by the European Commission through the Agência Nacional Erasmus+.

The evaluation and recognition of the Erasmus differs from School to School and the circumstances in which the training is carried out (curricular training, practical component of the dissertation or master's or doctoral thesis, extracurricular training). In all situations it is always necessary to have a formal evaluation by the host institution and an opinion of the supervisor of ULisboa.

The mobility period for training may or may not be accredited, and in all circumstances, the Erasmus training completed during the study cycle will be registered in the Diploma Supplement.

In Erasmus+ traineeship for recent graduates, completed after the end of the study cycle, there is no official recognition of these mobilities at the end-of-course documents (Certificate/Diploma Supplement).

However, Europass mobility issue is requested from each School in order to recognize the completion of the Erasmus+ Traineeship (document to be filled in both by School and the host institution).

It is always necessary to have a formal evaluation by the host institution that proves the successful use of the activities developed during the Erasmus + training, together with an opinion of the internship tutor at ULisboa, in order to validate the assignment of the Erasmus grant.
