"Since I started studying Biochemistry, I knew that it was ground base for so many subjects and the link to many others and that I could use my knowledge in a real problem. Therefore, when I was presented to INSPIRED, I decided to apply as I would be able to participate in a project with people from different academic backgrounds and that I could contribute with my knowledge and learn about other subjects to solve an important global problem at an international level. It was the best choice I have ever made. Working with people from different countries, cultures and academic backgrounds was the richest experience I have ever had, and I completely recommend it to everyone. The final project was 3 weeks of complete and absolute work and fun and it gave me friends and so many moments to cherish. Luckily, besides INSPIRED 2021, the University of Lisbon is organizing a similar project, ULisses, allowing another amazing and richness opportunity. I recommend everyone to participate and I assure you that you will not regret it. Don´t be afraid and be a part of an international group to solve a real and important problem!”

"Hello everyone! My name is Marta Narciso and last year I participated in INSPIRED 2020, a project organized by TU Darmstadt, and I am here to talk to you a little bit about my overall experience. During the three weeks of INSPIRED we were incited to be innovative, creative and to think outside of the box to solve our given problem and it was a great opportunity for me to improve my communication skills as well as to meet people from all over the world. This experience was not only the full days of hard work, my team and I made sure to have lots of fun by playing online games with each other or by introducing our hometowns in google maps whenever we had a moment to spare. I can say that I now have friends in different corners of the world that I hope I am able to meet in person soon.
This year the University of Lisbon is launching a similar project to INSPIRED which is called ULisses and it is related with the sustainability of the environment and the seas, a current important problem the world faces. I encourage you to take the chance and apply to ULisses because this will be a great opportunity for you to engage in an international multidisciplinary research project with colleagues that come from all UNITE! universities. Since all participating students come from all sorts of different academic backgrounds and cultures, this experience will enrich your knowledge, teamwork cooperation skills and problem-solving methods as INSPIRED did for me. Although it had to be in an online setting due to Covid-19 that did not prevent it from being an amazing experience and I can say that participating in INSPIRED 2020 was one of the highlights of my 2020. Whatever your scientific background is your expertise will be of value in this project and I hope to see you all in ULisses 2021!"
