Banks
Banks are open to the public on working days from 8:30am to 3pm.  There is a national ATM network, which can be identified by the letters MB – Multibanco and which allows you to withdraw cash 24 hours a day.

Pharmacies
Usually pharmacies are open to the public on weekdays between 9:00am and 07:00pm (some close for lunch between 01:00pm and 03:00pm) and on Saturdays from 9:00am to 01:00pm, having an illuminated green cross when on service overnight.

Post office
Overall, the post offices are open from Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 06:00pm. The central offices and those in airports have extended opening hours and may be open on Saturdays and in some cases also on Sundays.

Shops
Traditionally, shops operate from Monday to Friday, opening their doors between 9:00am and 10:00am and closing at 07:00pm. Some take lunch breaks from 01:00pm to 03:00pm. On Saturdays, trade normally closes at 01:00pm, although some shops in the city centres are open in the afternoon.

The numerous shopping centres have a longer working time – usually from 10:00am to 00:00am, every day of the week.

In the public telephones you can use coins or special cards sold in shops, at post offices and in some kiosks (advertised on the spot).

At international airports there are mobile phone shops where you can rent equipment or purchase SIM cards that you can use on your device.
