Studies of Culture and Intercultural Communication
Studies of Culture and Intercultural Communication
1
The Degree in Culture and Communication Studies offers training focused on the Sciences of Culture and Communication, in Linguistics, in History and in foreign languages. It aims to develop critical and interpretive capabilities of the historical processes of evolution of societies and cultures. It trains intervention and application skills in the areas of culture and communication, for example, in the media and in their criticism, in research and in cultural management.
The course aims to form upper staff workers able to adapt themselves with flexibility to the conditions and demands of a constantly fluid work market, both in the public and private sectors of communication and culture. The Sciences of Culture course's planning, instead of adopting a rather technical and practical profile (typical of those offered by the Escolas Superiores de Educação in the area of Social Communication), is focused in stimulating the students to develop performances with the ability of conception and diagnosis, as well as of intervention and application in the areas of communication and culture (i.e. media, media criticism, investigation and cultural management).
