The course lasts 3 years (6 semesters), totaling 180 credit units (ECTS), and is organized in curricular units in a model of acquisition of vertical and horizontal skills. In the last year there is a one-semester internship in which the student is specifically oriented to the understanding and application of the knowledge necessary for the exercise of the profession of Dental Hygienist.
Objectives
To prepare clinicians to administer preventive oral hygiene care to patients of all ages, including the disabled, and collaborate with health team members in planning, implementing, and evaluating community health programs.
Career prospects
Provision of oral health care and/or promotion in health centres, clinics, dental clinics, day care centres, kindergartens, hospitals, companies involved in the manufacture and marketing of dental and oral health materials, nursing homes and school units.
