The Licenciatura’s Degree in Psychology offers a comprehensive and current training in the field of psychological science, encompassing knowledge of theories, methods, and training in basic skills, as well as the acquisition of general knowledge and skills in psychological research and the development of transversal academic skills. This is a three-year programme (180 ECTs) which does not qualify students who graduate for the autonomous practice of psychology, but provides the necessary training for further studies at the Master’s level in psychology.
This Licenciatura’s Degree has the general aims of providing basic training in all the fields of psychology and related areas essential to the understanding, interpretation and explanation of the study object of Psychology, i.e., human behavior and cognition. It aims to ensure the basic knowledge necessary for further studies and for a future qualification as a psychologist according to the recommendations of Europsy and the Portuguese Psychologists Association and to prepare them to respond to today's societal challenges, such as promoting mental health and well-being throughout the lifespan, creating healthy organizations, changing environmental behaviors, promoting learning and well-being at school.
