Geographic Information Systems and Modelling Applied to Spatial Planning
1
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are increasingly part of the daily life of those whose occupation is related to the territory and its relationship with Man. With the emergence of geographic information technologies, the labour market in companies and institutions connected to the field has grown proportionally faster than the responses given by public and private universities in terms of training and skills. Due to this gap between supply and demand, there has been a proliferation of several technical courses, generally of low qualification and not always provided with sufficient theoretical and scientific body, which have been the main responsible for the training of those who currently work in the area of GIS.
The Master in Geographic Information Systems and Modelling Applied to Spatial Planning aims to provide general training in Geographic Information Systems through:
Advanced training in the fields of geographic information;
Methodologies for acquisition, storage and quantitative analysis of geographic data;
Cartographic and graphic representation;
Spatial analysis;
Territorial modelling applied to planning.
