Electrical and Computer Engineering intervenes in computers, telecommunications, electronics, control and energy, and has a huge impact on the technologies that define modern society and life. An electrical and computer engineer has the skills to design electrical and electronic devices, as well as develop systems involving hardware, software, communication networks, power generation and control of sensors and actuators.
The teaching of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Master's level (2nd Cycle) aims to:
• Train competent professionals to intervene in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering for design, specification, draft, industrialization, commercialization and use of products and services that use electrical energy, borne on Electronics and Information Technologies;
• Develop students analysis skills, together with a critical, flexible and creative spirit that make them contribute to carry out research, to innovate and to become a factor for progress in the most diverse activities and sectors of Society;
• Foster students entrepreneurial spirit, allowing them to participate as business promoters and creators;
• Nurture students ability to act as engineering managers, who motivate and increase productivity in their areas of action;
• Offer necessary educational background for the development of scientific research, while providing some of the most prestigious university professors in the area of Electrical and Computer Engineering, in Portuguese and foreign universities.
