Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation awarded 70 New Talents scholarships in the areas of Biology, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Humanities and Social Sciences, of which 25 are students from Universidade de Lisboa, belonging to 8 of the 18 Schools of ULisboa: Faculty of Fine Arts, Faculty of Sciences, School of Arts and Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Psychology, Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning, ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management and IST Técnico Lisboa.

The scholarship holders will be supported with an annual scholarship of a minimum of EUR 2,500, including support for further studies, namely the tuition fees and research stimulus (with the amount of EUR 1,000), and support for talent enrichment activities, such as advanced training courses; participation in conferences and summer schools; internships, language courses, acquisition of books and laboratory materials, among others (with the amount of EUR 1,500). In addition, there is an amount, up to EUR 3,000, available for applicants in adverse social situations.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an immersive talent enrichment programme, with tutors of recognised merit and monitoring by a Scientific Committee dedicated to each area of the programme. The programme also includes personal development sessions in groups, thus focusing on the creation of a networking and sharing environment between grantees that continues even after the scholarship period.
