Ethics

The ethical dimension is clearly inscribed in the mission and values of the University of Lisbon, which mention the importance of intellectual freedom and respect for ethics in all its activities. It is also explicit in the Charter of Rights and Guarantees and in the Code of Conduct and Good Practices of the University.

The Code of Conduct and Good Practices states: “Members of the academic community of the University of Lisbon (faculty and researchers, Non-Teaching Staff, research fellows, students and visitors) are required to individually observe standards of ethics, justice and equal opportunities, integrating these values in academic life and in the professional activity carried out at the University and its Autonomous Services, as well as in the University's relations with society”.

In all Schools of the University of Lisbon there is an Ethics Commission, or equivalent, to deal with matters related to this dimension of academic life. For the whole of the University, a Network of Ethics Committee has been established. This network does not replace the School’s Ethics Committee, focused on issues that are specific to each, but it allows strengthening links and enhancing joint work.

As for data protection, a privacy management team has been set up, comprising representatives of all the Schools, who are in regular contact with the Data Protection Officer (DPO) of the University of Lisbon. Contact of the Data Protection Officer: rgpd@ulisboa.pt

 

Whistleblowing Channel
Complying with the provisions of the General Regime for the Protection of Whistleblowers (RGPDI), approved by Law No. 93/2021, of 20 December, which transposed into national law the Directive (EU) 2019/1937 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 23 October 2019, the University of Lisbon provides the Whistleblowing Channel where you can expose your complaint through an impartial and independent channel.
