International Credit Mobility

What is the International Credit Mobility (ICM) ?

Erasmus+, through the International Credit Mobility (ICM), offers students and staff mobility opportunities in higher education institutions outside Europe. It also allows students and staff from non-european partner country institutions to go on mobility to higher education institutions holding the Erasmus Charter, in Europe.

What opportunities does ICM offer?

The ICM makes it possible to carry out mobilities for students (SMS), Staff (STT) and teachers (STA).

What kind of mobilities are available through ICM?

There are three possible types of activities within ICM:

| Student mobility for studies to/from Partner Countries;
| Staff mobility for teaching to/from Partner Countries;
| Staff mobility for training to/from Partner Countries.

Mobility period: 3 to 12 months

Internships are not currently foreseen in this project.

Mobility Grant Incoming  : 850€ per month plus travel costs.

Mobility Grant Outgoing : 700€ per month plus travel costs.

The travel costs is based on the distance, in kilometers, from the country of origin to the final destination.

To calculate the distance the National Agency offers a distance calculator.

Between 2000 and 2999 KM:360 EUR per participant
Between 3000 and 3999 KM: 530 EUR per participant
Between 4000 and 7999 km:820 EUR per participant
8000 KM or more:1500 EUR per participant

How to apply:

| The students must be enrolled in a cycle of studies and have already completed at least the first year of their study cycle;
| Some groups of countries impose restrictions on study cycles for mobility to be eligible (link to the country list);
| The student must satisfy the mandatory linguistic requirements established by each partner university.


Before mobility:

Students selected for an ICM grant must submit in their Faculty of origin the following mandatory documentation:

| Student Form;
| Learning Agreement;
| Letter of acceptance from the institution of destination;
| Appropriate visa for the destination;
| Health insurance covering the whole period of mobility.
| Receipts of travel tickets.

After mobility

| Present the Certificate of Attendance proving the dates of your study period;
| Present the Transcript of Records;
| Complete the Erasmus report sent 1 month before the end of their mobility period.


Grant Payment

| 1st amount- For outgoing students 1 week before mobility starts; For incoming students upon arrival;
| 2nd amount at 50% mobility;
| 3rd amount in the last 2 weeks of the mobility period, after the submission of the Erasmus report (mandatory).


Check list

Before your trip do not forget:

| Passport;
| Health insurance;
| Letter of acceptance at the University of Lisbon;
| Some money for the first few days of your mobility.

Only staff from a partner institution on the project can apply for ICM non-academic staff mobility for training.

Mobility period: 5 days to 2 months

Mobility Grant Incoming: The grant for this mobility is 160€ for each working day plus travel costs.

Mobility Grant Outgoing: The grant for this mobility is 180€ for each working day plus travel costs.

The grant amount for non-academic staff is paid on the beginning of their mobility.

Only staff from a partner institution on the project can apply for ICM non-academic staff mobility for training.

| Acceptance from the institution of destination;
| Appropriate visa for the destination;
| Health insurance covering the whole period of mobility.

After mobility

| Present the Certificate of Attendance proving the dates of your study period;
| Complete the Erasmus report sent before the end of their mobility period.


Grant Payment

The grant amount for non-academic staff is paid on the 1st beginning day of their mobility.
