ULisboa Colleges
ULisboa's Colleges are non-organic spaces that incorporate teaching, research and innovation programmes.
The Statutes of Universidade de Lisboa (ULisboa) state that Colleges are non-organic work frames that incorporate programs of scientific research, technological innovation and education, which involve, necessarily, professors and researchers from several Schools.
The Colleges can take on the functional nature of doctoral schools by associating, in such cases, with research units which are dully recognized and rated. In cases of interest to the University and where agreements are established, they can also foster and associate themselves with external initiatives.
The ULisboa Colleges are one way to promote cross-cutting initiatives, bringing together researchers from distinguished Schools and research units, for the development of new cross-cutting areas of knowledge.
The ULisboa Colleges are transversal units that involve teachers, researchers and students from various Schools, in line with a strong emphasis on the creation and transmission of knowledge in interdisciplinary areas.
Considering the Regulations for the Creation of Colleges at the University of Lisbon (ULisboa), and taking into account the role that the Colleges play in stimulating teaching and research projects in areas of interface between domains, the following ULisboa Colleges were set up:
Food, Farming and Forestry College (F3)
Mind-Brain College
College of Chemistry of ULisboa (CQUL)
Tropical College (CTROP)
College on Polar and Extreme Environments (POLAR2E)
ULisboa's five Colleges have been gaining expression as mechanisms for the production, teaching and dissemination of interdisciplinary knowledge, but also as platforms for internal mobility and the enhancement of critical mass.
