Classical Studies
The degree in Classical Studies offers training and promotes the acquisition of skills in three specific areas:
Classical and Portuguese studies, Classical Heritage and European Culture, Translation from Classical Languages. This 1st-cycle degree provides knowledge and training in reading, editing and translating documents and texts produced in Latin and Greek; the study of Classical roots of European culture; Medieval and Neo-Latin literature produced by Portuguese writers; Classical influences in Medieval, Renaissance, Modern and Contemporary writers; and essential knowledge for the teaching of Classical and Portuguese languages and literatures.
Classical Studies graduates develop activities in areas such as cultural management, the book market, libraries, museums, the press and publishing, as well as support for research in the Humanities.
Many students graduated in Classical Studies continue to study and can apply for a master's or 3rd cycle course in any area of the Social Sciences and Humanities.
