Generic objectives: The Master’s degree aims to train professionals with scientific, technical, ethical, and critical competencies, capable of intervening, researching, and making informed decisions in the field of conservation of modern and contemporary art. The programme also prepares students for professional practice, applied research, and interdisciplinary collaboration within the context of contemporary cultural heritage.
Learning outcomes
Throughout the programme, students will be able to: Understand and apply the technical terminology, theoretical principles, and ethical and deontological standards of conservation of modern and contemporary art;
Critically analyse modern and contemporary artworks, considering their materiality, production techniques, historical, conceptual, and artistic context;
Identify, diagnose, and evaluate simple and complex conservation problems, using appropriate methodologies;
Design and test preventive conservation and interventive strategies in accordance with internationally recognised decision-making models;
Select and apply suitable techniques and materials for the treatment of different types of artworks;
Justify and document conservation decisions in a critical, well-founded, and ethical manner;
Work autonomously and in an interdisciplinary context, collaborating with artists, curators, and other cultural heritage professionals;
Develop applied research in the field of conservation of modern and contemporary art.
Access and ingress
Holders of the bachelor degree or legal equivalent in the field of conservation and restoration and the like, as well as other artistic variations;
Holders of foreign academic degree conferred following a 1st cycle of studies organized according to the principles of the Bologna Process by a State acceding to this process in the fied of conservation and restoration and the like, as well as other artistic variations;
Holders of a foreign academic degree in the field of conservation and restoration and the like, as well as other artistic variations which is recognized as meeting the objectives of a Licenciado degree by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Fine Arts;
Holders of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Fine Arts as attesting the capacity to attend the study programme
