This play by the Maricastaña Group from the University of Vigo will be performed on 21 May at 9pm at the Carlos Paredes Auditorium in Benfica, as part of FATAL.
LUDOVICO 2.5 is a performance part of the ‘FATAL Convida’ category.
The play is a social satire and a proposal centred around violence.
It’s like a blend of sociopathy and irony, psychopathy and dark humour, reflection and fun, or punk and Beethoven. This is the path we must follow, the poetry we must find. This is a controversial and risky work that we’ll try to perform with the intent being able to do so 63 years past its release.
Synopsis: LUDOVICO is a behavioural therapy to stop the practise of evil in exchange for the society-wide acceptance of torture and believing in the lie that there exists a choice between security and liberty.
What are we left with? While adopting an eye for an eye approach, in which violence only begets violence, when is violence not the answer? And, while on the subject, where does violence begin?
Is there poetry beyond violence? Is it possible to listen to Ludwig again and be happy?
This is a 75 minute-long performance.
