Develop a wide range of skills, methods, and theories on the main applications of psychology in the context of sports, exercise, and health. Areas of application include: designing psychological intervention programs; motivation and attitudes toward sports and exercise; optimizing interpersonal relationships; talent selection, training, and personal and social development of athletes.

Promote applied skills to improve students' employability, helping them to develop sports and exercise psychology skills and knowledge geared towards practical professional intervention in diverse intervention contexts.

For sports and exercise professionals, it aims to provide the knowledge necessary for a variety of interventions and improvements in their professional actions, both individual and group, in the organizational contexts described, and contribute to the knowledge in sports psychology, through research.

Specifically for psychology graduates, it aims to provide the knowledge necessary for qualification as a sports psychologist, according to the specifications of the Portuguese Order of Psychologists. The program provides an understanding of all the fundamental psychological issues related to individual behavior in the world of sports, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications that can be implemented in the organizational contexts defined above.

Admission criteria

Hold a Degree in Psychological Science or Psychology or in related areas (e.g. Management, Human Resources Management, Sociology) or a Degree in Sports Science or related areas and others considered relevant.
