On 7 April, from 12:30pm onwards, the Workshop Health & Biotech – Integrated Health Technologies: Challenges and Future Directions of Tissue Engineering will be taking place as part of the UNITE!Widening project’s cycle of Networking Workshops.

Health

The event will be held at TTC@ULisboa in hybrid format and will bring together academia and industry specialists to debate how technological advances are transforming tissue engineering and translational biomedical research.

Participants of both workshops (Health & Biotech, and Digital & Autonomous Technologies) will be invited to attend a shared networking lunch at 12:30pm, providing an informal moment for contact between researchers, enterprises, and other stakeholders.

The afternoon thematic session starting at 2pm will address:

  • Bioreactors as technological platforms for tissue modelling;
  • Bioactive elastomeric composites for regeneration;
  • Muscle-on-chip systems for therapy development;
  • Humanly relevant barrier models for microbiome research.

The programme will include:

  • Presentations by European and national experts;
  • Pitch sessions by companies and researchers;
  • AAVANZ training session on Horizon Europe funding opportunities for international R&D projects in Health;
  • Open discussion and networking. The networking lunch will include the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of an Open Innovation Community.

This workshop aims to promote the creation of strategic partnerships and strengthen the link between fundamental research, technological innovation, and clinical application.

  • Date: 7 April 2026
  • Time: 12:30pm – 5:30pm (networking lunch + workshop)
  • Location: TTC@ULisboa (hybrid format)
  • Target audience: ULisboa community, researchers, health professionals, SMEs and start-ups in the biotechnology and health technologies areas
