Manage and provide specialized nursing care to children, youth and family in health-disease processes, respecting ethical and social responsibility
Lead teams and processes of nursing and health care, aiming at the continuous improvement of care practice
Apply knowledge and skills for understanding and solving problems in new and complex situations of nursing care for children, young people and families, in multidisciplinary contexts of child and pediatric health.
Conduct processes of reflection, investigation and dissemination of knowledge relevant to the discipline and nursing practice in child and pediatric health.
Communicate knowledge and reasoning underlying child and pediatric health nursing practice and research, clearly and unambiguously, to different audiences
Adopt responsible behavior for lifelong learning and collaboration for the development of discipline and profession
Graduates of the Master's Degree in Child and Pediatric Health Nursing are awarded a master's degree, level 7 of the QNQ, and if they hold the professional title of nurse, with two years of professional experience and have completed the Internship with Report modality, they are eligible to apply to the Order of Nurses for the title of Specialist Nurse, since they have the specific and common skills for specialised nursing care in highly complex situations, leadership of care and teams, production and dissemination of scientific knowledge and creation of original applications, and may develop their professional activity in three distinct sectors: public sector, private sector and private practice (Primary Health Care, Hospitals, Clinics, Companies, Schools, Units for Children and Adolescents, NGOs, among others).
Access and ingress
Candidates who meet one of the following conditions may enter:
• Hold a Nursing Degree with at least 240 ECTS, or legal equivalent, obtained from a Portuguese higher education institution;
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing with at least 240 ECTS, awarded following a 1st cycle of studies organized in accordance with the
principles of the Bologna Process by a State adhering to this process
Teaching activities take place mostly in the after-work regime, some of which may be diurnal. The internships are diurnal or in shifts, following the activity of the guiding nurses.
