Have you arrived at ULisboa? Here's how to get your student ID card

Welcome to the University of Lisbon! Entering higher education opens up a whole new world, and to get this new chapter off to a good start, there’s one essential step you should take right away: get your ULisboa ID card.

Whether in digital or physical format, this is what you’ll use to identify yourself at your school, access services, and enjoy benefits designed just for you.

To make your life easier, we’ll walk you through the process step by step:

1. Take care of everything online

Once you complete your registration on your school’s FenixEdu academic platform, you will be automatically redirected to the CGD onboarding page.

Didn't you take care of that when you signed up? No problem! You can log in to FenixEdu later (tab myFenix > Personal Info > Identification Card > Send Data).

Through the Caixadirecta app: If you are a resident Portuguese citizen and have already authorized data sharing on FenixEdu, you can submit your request directly in the app under Menu > Open a New Account.
How does it work? When you sign up for the Caixa IU Card, you’ll immediately receive a virtual card in the Caixadirecta app (which you can add to your phone’s wallet and use right away!). The physical card will then be mailed to your address.

Important notes:

To submit the request, you need an active Digital Mobile Key (Chave Móvel Digital).
You must grant permission in FenixEdu to share data with CGD (tab myFenix > Personal Info > Consents > Authorize).

2. In-person

Would you prefer to handle everything in person and ask questions face-to-face? You can visit a CGD branch or the service desks set up specifically for this orientation phase, located at the Rector’s Office and the various schools from ULisboa. You’ll receive a temporary card right away!

What you need to bring with you:

Citizen Card (or equivalent identification document with a Taxpayer Identification Number).
Proof of address (only if you are not a Portuguese citizen).
