The meeting, which took place during the visit of the Education and Youth Development Bureau’s delegation of the Macao Special Administrative Region to the Rectory of the University of Lisbon, enhanced partnerships and opportunities for students.

Delegação de Macau visita ULisboa para reforçar cooperação académica

On the morning of 21 April, following the signing of the framework agreement the previous day, a visit/meeting of a delegation of academic authorities from Macao took place at the Rectory of the University of Lisbon. Welcoming the delegation were João Peixoto and Jorge Relvas, Vice-Rectors of ULisboa, Isabel França, Director of the External and International Relations Department, and Inês Pires of the Academic Department. 

The Delegation of Macao was composed by Kong Chi Meng, Director of the DSEDJ, Carlos Roberto Xavier, Head of the Department of Higher Education of the DSEDJ, Gloria Choi Man Chi, Head Of Department Of Non-Tertiary Education of the DSEDJ, José Wong, Director of the Escola Secundária Luso-Chinesa Luís Gonzaga Gomes, and Sharon Leong, Director of the Centre of Languages

The meeting’s goals included, apart from enhancing the visiting delegation’s knowledge of the University of Lisbon, the deepening of a relation aimed at strategic partnerships between the two institutions, further considering the creation of more and better access opportunities to the Portuguese Higher Education, particularly at notably those of the University of Lisbon, for students of Macao. Alternatively, common plans for a future development of a summer course for Macao’s students, in cooperation with the DSEDJ, were identified, within the scope of the studies programme in Portugal for students of the Macao Special Administrative Region.
