The event, funded by Unite! Seed Fund, a line of support for student activities, will take place in spring 2026 in Barcelona.
The University of Lisbon (Ulisboa) will participate in the “Solve & Unite! Hackathon”, an initiative promoted by the Unite! alliance. Of the five universities involved (Technical University of Darmstadt — TUDa, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), ULisboa, Politecnico di Torino (PoliTo) and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUST)), ULisboa will have between four and five students selected to represent it in this hackathon. The teams will be intentionally mixed, composed of students from different universities, with the aim of fostering intercultural collaboration.
During three intense days, from 6 to 9 April 2026, participants will develop digital solutions or platforms that aim to improve the integration of mobility students, promoting academic, social and cultural connections between international and local students. Instead of monetary prizes, participants' travel costs will be covered, reflecting the event's focus on sustainable impact: building lasting networks, new friendships and ideas that contribute to strengthening mobility within the Unite! community.
The application period ends at 22:00 (Lisbon time) on 30 December 2025.
Unite! (University Network for Innovation, Technology and Engineering) is an alliance of European universities, of which the University of Lisbon is a member, which aims to continue the creation of a European Higher Education Area that, through a new generation of Europeans committed to transnational, transdisciplinary and multilingual cooperation, will be able to address major societal challenges, contributing to affirming Europe's leadership as a space of knowledge.
