The University of Lisbon is once again making its mark on the European scene with two students selected to partake as Unite!s Alliance delegation at the European Student Assembly 2026. This event will take place from 20 to 22 April in Strasbourg, France.
João Tiago Marcos Santana and Maria Ana Rocha have been selected to represent ULisboa in this leading European initiative. This conference will bring together around 250 students from more than 60 European university alliances.
Active participation in shaping Europe’s future
ESA 2026 is the main initiative of the Erasmus+ EUC Voices project, offering a platform for debate, collaboration and drafting of policy recommendations by students from// all over Europe. For three days, participants will work on eight thematic panels addressing current challenges of the European Union, such as digital transition, sustainability, mobility and democratic participation.
Within the scope of Unite!’s Alliance, the selected students will not only take part as participants, but also as panel coordinators, a responsibility reserved for all students with experience, leadership skills and expertise in the debate areas.
ULisboa at the forefront of European collaboration
ULisboa students' participation reinforces its active role as a University of Unite!, a network of European universities promoting academic cooperation, mobility and the development of an integrated European campus.
The selection of João Tiago Marcos Santana and Maria Ana Rocha emphasises the quality and commitment of ULisboa’s students to the major European challenges, as well as their ability to contribute actively in shaping public policy for Europe’s future.
A life-changing experience
More than just a conference, ESA 2026 is a platform for impact and dialogue, where the students have the opportunity to make their voices heard by policymakers and European leading figures. The proposals developed during the event will later be shared with key institutions and organisations, contributing to the development of more inclusive and sustainable policies.
With this participation, ULisboa reinforces its commitment to train active, critical-thinking citizens who are equipped to take action at European and global levels.
