Welcome Day 2026 brings international students together for a day of discovery and sharing

Conversations, music, group activities, campus tours, and plenty of opportunities to socialize marked this year’s Welcome Day. Throughout the day, participants got to know the University of Lisbon better, explored its facilities, and made new connections with other students.

The day began at the University of Lisbon’s Rectory with a welcome session and a conversation among students, providing an initial opportunity to share experiences and perspectives on academic life.

The morning continued to the sounds of Vicentuna, which welcomed the students with a performance in the Passos Perdidos atrium, creating a moment of music and fellowship before heading to the Lisbon University Stadium. At the stadium, participants were invited to take part in various icebreaker activities, which provided opportunities to meet new people, interact, and form new friendships.

After lunch at the ULisboa Cantina Velha, the students set out to explore the University’s various spaces on a bus tour of the ULisboa campuses, getting to know some of its schools and facilities. The visit also allowed participants to better discover the University and get to know the city of Lisbon, exploring some of the places that are part of daily academic life and the experience of studying in the Portuguese capital.

The day concluded with a social gathering at the Tropical Botanical Garden, a relaxed moment of celebration and sharing that capped off a day marked by diversity, connection, and a spirit of community.

More than just an opportunity to get to know the University, Welcome Day was also a first step toward helping new international students feel part of the ULisboa community from the very start of their journey.
