The “21 Day Challenge”, an initiative of the European alliance Unite! dedicated to Gender, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI), offers a daily learning experience focused on reflection and the promotion of more inclusive practices.
Two years after its first edition, launched in March 2024, the challenge returns in 2026, from 8 to 28 June, as a new opportunity for participation for students who were previously unable to join, as well as for new members of the academic community who have since entered higher education.
The initiative is part of the Unite! alliance, which brings together nine European universities with the aim of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation while also promoting joint reflection on diversity, equity and inclusion in higher education.
A 21-day journey towards meaningful change
Based on the idea that it takes around 21 days to establish new habits in daily life, the “21 Day Challenge” proposes a structured journey of progressive learning, encouraging small actions capable of generating meaningful change in the way we understand diversity and inclusion.
Between 8 and 28 June 2026, participants will be invited to engage in daily activities and reflections exploring different social perspectives and the individual role each person plays in building fairer and more inclusive communities.
Daily learning and continuous reflection
Throughout the three weeks of the challenge, a new topic will be introduced each day, accompanied by a variety of resources that allow participants to explore the content in different formats and at their own pace.
Weekly activities encouraging reflection and active engagement will also be proposed, promoting dialogue, awareness and the development of skills related to diversity, equity and belonging.
An initiative of the Unite! alliance
The “21 Day Challenge” is a collective experience promoted within the framework of the European alliance Unite!, encouraging intercultural dialogue and a shared commitment to inclusion in higher education.
As a partner institution of the Unite! alliance, the University of Lisbon joins the dissemination of this initiative, reinforcing its commitment to promoting more open, diverse and inclusive academic environments.
