On 21May at 5pm, the big final of the Three Minute Thesis Competition will take place at the Pavilion of Portugal.
In 2026, the University of Lisbon promotes the 4th edition of the Three Minute Thesis (3MT), inviting PhD students to show, in three minutes and one slide, to a non specialised audience, why their research matters.
The initiative, which counts with the renowned support of FLAD (Luso-American Development Foundation), aims to train key communication skills, communicate Science with clarity and gather different areas of knowledge inside ULisboa.
The finalists receive certificates of merit and prizes of €5.000€, €2.000 and €1.000 for the top three winners, respectively.

- Maria Manuela Sanches Almeida Carvalho, Rectory (Inter-schools Course)
- Maria Pedro Ribeiro Teixeira, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
- Miguel Luís Marques Barbosa, Faculty of Sciences
- Pedro Espírito Santo Prates Gonçalves, Técnico ULisboa
- Rafael Marçal Almeida, Faculty of Sciences
- Tiago Delgado Ribeiro, Faculty of Human Kinetics
The final of this Competition will take place at the Pavilion of Portugal. Presentations will be voted by a specialised jury of different areas of the University of Lisbon Schools and of Science communication. The finalists will be selected as winners of this Competition, with Jornal Público as a media partner, who will broadcast this event in their Youtube channel.
