The University of Lisbon is accepting applications for two international programs organized as part of the Unite! Widening project, which will take place at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and are designed to strengthen skills in innovation, knowledge transfer, and research support.
With free participation and funding for travel and lodging for ULisboa participants, these initiatives offer researchers, doctoral students, and research support professionals an opportunity to develop skills, build international networks, and deepen collaboration within the framework of the European Unite! Alliance.
Widening Training @KTH: IPR, Knowledge Valorization and Entrepreneurship
From September 8 to 10, 2026, KTH will host a three-day intensive program focused on intellectual property, knowledge commercialization, and entrepreneurship.
Aimed at doctoral and postdoctoral students, researchers, and university staff, this training program will enable participants to understand how to transform scientific results into economic and social impact through workshops, hands-on sessions, presentations by experts, and visits to Stockholm’s innovation ecosystem.
Key topics to be covered include:
- intellectual property as it applies to research;
- knowledge transfer and the commercialization of scientific results;
- use of the KTH Innovation Readiness Level (IRL) model;
- the Swedish model of university innovation;
- testimonials from researchers with experience in academic entrepreneurship.
The University of Lisbon has 6 spots available for this program. Participation is free, and for ULisboa participants, travel and accommodation expenses are covered in accordance with the rules of the Unite! Widening project.
Widening Staff Week @KTH: Research and Innovation Support
From October 5 to 9, 2026, Widening Staff Week will take place—a training week dedicated to professionals who support research and innovation projects.
The program focuses on best practices for supporting Horizon Europe grant applications and project management, covering all phases of the project lifecycle, from proposal preparation to implementation and post-funding management.
Participants will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of:
- institutional support for research and innovation;
- preparation and management of European projects;
- open science and data management;
- gender equality, sustainability, and ethics;
- technology and innovation transfer;
- building collaborative networks among universities in the Unite! Alliance.
ULisboa has 10 spots available for this initiative, intended for technical staff and professionals supporting research and innovation. As with the September training session, participation is free, and travel and accommodation expenses for ULisboa participants are covered by the Unite! Widening project, in accordance with its funding rules.
Applications
Applications for both programs are open until July 1, 2026, and applicants will be notified of the results by July 10, 2026.
These initiatives represent an excellent opportunity for the University of Lisbon community to strengthen its skills, establish new international partnerships, and contribute to greater innovation and competitiveness in the research conducted at ULisboa.
